Enjoy Delicious Western Food At Arang Coffee, Bayan Baru, Penang

Arang Coffee is a cozy cafe in the Bayan Baru area, located near the Olive Tree Hotel. The interior of the cafe is mostly in black and grey colours, consistent with the Malay word “arang” (which literally means charcoal), and coffee (which is black in colour). If you look up to the ceiling, you will find a number of “cages” containing charcoal, which I think is a very innovative decoration.

Arang Coffee prides itself in coffee, but for me, I normally go there for the food. It serves western food, with some special tweaking to suit the local Penangite taste. My favourite food here are the Hawaiian Chicken Croissant Burger, Seafood Aglio Oglio (pasta), and the Smoked Duck Quesadilla. Here is the Arang Coffee food menu at the time of writing:

Arang Coffee also serves many types of cakes, which go well with the coffee. As for the coffee, they do not serve Americano (unfortunately), so, I normally go for the Long Black instead. You can also enjoy tea (there are different types of tea served) and other drinks like honey lemon and chocolate. Arang Coffee also provides drinking water (with lemon) for free.

Overall, Arang Coffee is a very nice cafe. The seating is comfortable and the interior decoration makes you feel relaxed. Last but not least, the western food and coffee here are excellent.
