Do you like Korean food? My favourite Korean restaurant in Penang is Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant in Tanjung Tokong. The restaurant specializes in Korean BBQ, but it also serves other Korean food, like Korean ginseng chicken soup, kimchi tofu soup, etc. Daorae Restaurant also has a branch at Bayan Point, Bayan Lepas, Penang.
I normally go to Daorae Restaurant (Tanjung Tokong branch) for the Korean BBQ. The BBQ menu is quite extensive, including beef, pork, chicken, and squid marinated in different sauces. If you go there for the Korean BBQ, there is a minimum order of 2 dishes.
Each table which orders the Korean BBQ dishes will get a salad, seaweed soup, Korean pancake, and small side dishes like kimchi, anchovies, bean sprouts, vegetables, and other cold dishes. Korean wheat tea is provided as well. The waiter will help with the barbecuing, so, you can just watch, and eat when the meat is cooked. Lots of green vegetables and garlic is provided to eat with the barbecued meat.
At the end of the meal, you will be served some watermelons and sweet barley drink. It is a nice way to wrap up a hearty Korean BBQ meal.
