Megamal Pinang is a shopping complex in Seberang Perai, Mainland Penang. It is located right beside Ixora Hotel. When Megamal Pinang opened sometime back in the 1990s, it was the largest shopping mall in the northern region of Malaysia.
However, I would say that Megamal Pinang never fulfills its potential of developing into a successful mall like Queensbay Mall or Gurney Plaza. Many of the shop lots within the mall are still empty, after all these years.
Today, Megamal Pinang’s major tenants are Pacific Supermarket, Mega Lanes Bowling Centre, and Mega Cineplex. Other shops in the mall include KFC, Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, Watson, Guardian, Studio, Edwin, Vincci, Popular Bookstore, and many more. There are quite a number of clothing and mobile phone stores in the mall as well.
Walking around Megamal Pinang, you will also find many retail stalls in the open area selling items like clothes, bags, sandals, sunglasses, soft toys, and others. It is probably a good place to shop for bargain items.
