The Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2018 was held on 24-25 February 2018 at Padang Polo, Georgetown, Penang. It has become an annual event for the last few years.
I visited the event with my family on Sunday, 25 February 2018. We were there around 3.30PM, and the hot air balloons were not setup at that time. However, there was a nice carnival atmosphere, with many activities that visitors can participate in. My daughter’s favourite was the “balloon playground” with slides, trampoline and other fun structures. Other activities available were the reverse bungee jump, water orbs (getting into a big “bubble” floating in water pools), roller orbs, and creative workshops.
There were also many food trucks and stalls at the event.
We decided to drive back to the event later in the night, to see if we can get a glimpse of the hot air balloons. We reached there quite late (around 10AM), so, decided to just watch from outside. There were still many people in the area, but, they were slowly closing down the activities. We managed to get a glimpse of some of the hot air balloons from outside Padang Polo.
I believe the Penang Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2018 was a very successful event. There was a big crowd, and the activities were fun. I hope this event will continue for many years to come.
