D’Fat Mona Lisa Cafe is a nice cafe/restaurant in a bungalow house along Free School Road (Address: 43, Jalan Free School, 11600 Jelutong, Penang. Tel: 04-2810797). It is near TopKids Nursery & Kindergarten (Free School Road Branch). The compound outside the bungalow building provides ample free parking spaces for customers. The cafe serves coffee (of course), western food and some local / fusion food.
The food served at D’Fat Mona Lisa Cafe is not bad. I like to go there in the morning for the breakfast, which are mostly western food, with the exception of the D’Fat Mona Lisa nasi lemak. There is also a healthy breakfast menu, where the food is cooked with olive oil. The dining area can be quite crowded in the morning, but thankfully, the space is big enough.
The food served for lunch / dinner are also quite good.
Although the food here is OK, I think what draws the crowd to D’Fat Mona Lisa cafe is the comfortable dining environment. There is ample space between tables, and the decor is nice. Personally, I feel very relaxed dining here.
But, don’t expect much customer service in this cafe. You are expected to order at the counter, and the waiters / waitresses do not put customer service as a top priority (in my opinion). This is something that the cafe can definitely improve on, to give their customers a better dining experience.
