Lao Mu Zi is a relatively new curry mee shop at Golden Triangle, Sungai Ara, Penang (Address: 29-1-43A, Golden Triangle, Jalan Paya Terubong, Sungai Ara, 11900 Bayan Lepas, Penang. Tel: +604-2934332 / +6016-4186346). The shop opened for business in September 2017.
The curry mee at Lao Mu Zi has all the important Penang curry mee ingredients: coagulated pig’s blood, cockles, cuttlefish, and tao pok. Each table has a small container of chilli paste that customers can add to the curry mee. I kind of like it this way, as it allows the customers to control the spiciness of the curry mee. The curry mee turns out to be pretty good, definitely of a high standard in terms of taste. The chef actually won the “CURRY MEE MASTER CHAMPION” title in “The Battle of PENANG HAWKER MASTERS 2012” competition – so, he is the real deal when it comes to Penang curry mee.
In addition to curry mee, the Lao Mu Zi shop also serves nasi lemak, curry chicken with rice, curry chicken chee cheong fun, nyonya lam mee, koay teow th’ng, loh bak, and other dishes. The shop is cool and clean, making it an excellent place to enjoy a bowl of Penang curry mee.
