Delicious Hokkien Mee At One Corner Cafe

By | May 4, 2017

Where can we find the best hokkien mee (prawn noodles) in Penang? Well, there is one stall in One Corner Café that serves really tasty hokkien mee. One Corner Café is a kopitiam with hawker stalls located at No. 4, Jalan Bawasah, 10050 Georgetown, Penang. It is behind the Penang Plaza (also near Hotel Royal). Apart from hokkien mee, you can also find other common Penang hawker food like char koay teow, curry mee, chee cheong fun, and others.

The hokkien mee stall in One Corner Café is named Super Hokkien Mee. Many people claim that the stall serves the best hokkien mee in Penang. For me, I’m not sure if it is the best, but, it certainly tastes good.

There are usually many people ordering from the Super Hokkien Mee stall, so, expect a long wait. Normally, they will tell you to wait around 30 minutes or more. So, bring along your smartphone to get online, or have the day’s newspaper with you as you wait for your “super” hokkien mee. Also, go there before 9.30 AM, as they sold out quite early.

Be aware that the Super Hokkien Mee seller is quite rude, typical of hawker stalls in Penang which are really popular. Reminds me of the red-hat char koay teow aunty at Lorong Selamat (but that is another story). Anyway, keep your cool. You are there for the “super” hokkien mee, don’t let it ruin your mood. Just order, make sure they know where you sit, and wait patiently while sipping coffee…. haha. At the time of writing, the price for a bowl of “super” hokkien mee is MYR 6.00, which is significantly more expensive than other places. Well, it’s “super”, so that justifies its price tag, I guess.
